BodySonnet: An Evening at Chesterwood Garden
September 4th and 5th, 6:30-7:30pm
Chesterwood Gardens | Chesterwood Estate | 4 Williamsville Rd, Stockbridge, MA
As a contemporary dance collective prioritizing site-specific work, BodySonnet’s performance is directly inspired by the Chesterwood estate and the nature of the titular artist’s work as a sculptor. Through the impermanent and fleeting nature of dance, we aim to accentuate Daniel Chester French’s distillations of the human form and explore the inherent intersectionality of dance and sculpture.
The performance created by the four BodySonnet dancers runs 25-30 minutes. The work is accompanied by local music artist. Directly following there will be a post-performance discussion and Q & A (20mins) led by Donna Hassler, Executive Director of Chesterwood.
Thank you to Chesterwood and Berkshire Pulse.
Tickets: $20 Adult, $5 for children 13 and under. Reservation required at https://www.chesterwood.org

Virtual Performances June 18th, and June 20th
Thodos Dance Chicago and DanceWorks Chicago are excited to build on last season’s sold out series and continue a shared tradition of developing choreographic talent while serving and supporting Chicago’s dance community. Part of Chicago’s dance history for over 30 years, New Dances offers Chicago-based choreographers the opportunity to develop work with a community of professional dancers and share their creations with an engaged audience.
Co-produced by Post:Ballet and The Living Earth Show
Post:Ballet’s newest evening-length co-production with The Living Earth Show featuring composer Samuel Adams and choreographer Vanessa Thiessen, Lyra explores the story of Eurydice and Orpheus in a work focused on connecting artists and audiences through our shared human experiences of love, loss, and learning to let go.
A concert dance, contemporary classical music, visual design, culinary art, and fashion performance experience, Lyra uses classical mythology as a jumping point for an introspective exploration of the modern day human condition.
