you've made my heart cold

‘you’ve made my heart cold’ is a solo work by Moscelyne ParkeHarrison inspired by the story of Salome and the fabrication of her character throughout the 20th century. The work explores the archetype of a femme fatale, the paradox of innocence and temptation, and the danger of unfulfilled desire.

“you’ve made my heart cold” is divided into three sections, punctuated by projected text slides that contextualize each section. The text is inspired by Oscar Wilde's play 'Salome' as well as lines from cinema's femme fatales. Each section portrays the central character’s relationship to the gaze, loss of innocence, and a conversation with the subject of her desire - an imaginary lover, and perhaps the viewer themself.
